We are seeking a qualified and proactive HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Officer to join our team. The HSE Officer will be responsible for implementing and overseeing health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe environment for all staff and students. The ideal candidate will hold a NEBOSH certification and have experience in managing health and safety standards, ideally within an educational or similar setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and risk management systems in line with national regulations and organizational requirements.
- Conduct regular health and safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, non-compliance, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure that fire safety measures, emergency protocols, and first aid provisions are in place and up to date.
- Provide training to staff on health, safety, and environmental practices, including emergency response, fire safety, and first aid.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of safety audits, inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
- Collaborate with facilities and maintenance teams to ensure all safety equipment is operational and safety standards are met across the premises.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- NEBOSH certification is mandatory; additional safety certifications (e.g., IOSH) are an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an HSE Officer, ideally in an educational or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and compliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to conduct training and raise safety awareness among staff.
