We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Design and Technology Teacher to join our educational institution in the United Arab Emirates. This role involves planning and implementing engaging lessons, fostering creativity, and providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in design and technology-related subjects. The Design and Technology Teacher will also contribute to the curriculum development and participate in extracurricular activities related to design and technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Delivery:
- Plan and deliver effective lessons in accordance with the school's curriculum and educational standards.
- Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to explore and excel in design and technology.
- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Subject Expertise:
- Stay updated with the latest developments and trends in design and technology education.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of subject content, including topics such as product design, graphics, textiles, and manufacturing processes.
- Assessment and Feedback:
- Assess and evaluate student performance regularly, providing constructive feedback for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate with parents or guardians as needed.
Classroom Management:
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Establish and enforce classroom rules and expectations.
- Manage and maintain equipment, materials, and resources used in design and technology classes.
- Ensure the safe and appropriate use of tools and machinery in the workshop.
Professional Development:
- Engage in continuous professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.
- Attend staff meetings, workshops, and training sessions as required.
- Curriculum Development:
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the school's design and technology curriculum.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum with educational standards and best practices.
- Extracurricular Activities:
- Organize and supervise extracurricular clubs, competitions, or projects related to design and technology.
- Encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities to further their interest and skills in the subject.
Desired Candidate Profile
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer or a relevant field.
- Master's degree in IT/Computer or a related field.
- Teaching certification and relevant licensure in design and technology education (if applicable in your region).
- Valid teaching license in Computer Science/IT Education from the UAE Ministry of Education.
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 years in the UAE.
- Familiarity with UAE Ministry of Education curriculums and guidelines.
- Proficiency in the English language is mandatory.
- Proven experience in teaching design and technology at the secondary level (experience at the primary level may also be considered).
- Strong subject knowledge and expertise in design and technology concepts and practices.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to inspire creativity and critical thinking in students.
- Proficiency in the use of technology and educational tools for teaching.
- Experience with project-based learning and hands-on activities in design and technology.
- Involvement in professional organizations related to design and technology education.
