Job Description

The ICT Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to students. The teacher will equip students with essential digital literacy skills, ranging from basic computer skills to more advanced topics like coding, software use, and digital problem-solving. The ICT Teacher will foster a learning environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration through the effective use of technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development and Instruction:

    • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with the school’s ICT curriculum and meet educational standards.
    • Teach a variety of ICT topics, including but not limited to computer programming, digital literacy, data management, online safety, and the use of productivity software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, presentations).
    • Foster an understanding of the role of technology in everyday life and its impact on different fields such as business, science, and communication.
  2. Student Engagement and Support:

    • Create an interactive and student-centered learning environment that encourages exploration and hands-on learning.
    • Provide individualized support to students, adapting lessons and assignments to meet different learning styles and abilities.
    • Encourage students to use technology as a tool for creativity, problem-solving, and learning across subjects.
  3. Assessment and Evaluation:

    • Assess student progress through quizzes, assignments, projects, and exams related to ICT concepts.
    • Provide constructive feedback on student work, offering guidance for improvement and further exploration of ICT topics.
    • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
  4. Classroom Management:

    • Establish and maintain a structured, well-organized classroom environment that promotes active learning and responsible use of technology.
    • Manage classroom behavior, ensuring students follow appropriate protocols when using ICT resources.
    • Ensure the classroom is equipped with necessary tools (computers, software, networking equipment) and that these resources are maintained properly.
  5. Professional Development and Collaboration:

    • Stay up to date with the latest trends and developments in technology and education.
    • Participate in relevant professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of ICT.
    • Collaborate with other teachers to integrate ICT across subjects and foster interdisciplinary learning.
    • Share knowledge and resources with colleagues, helping to promote the effective use of technology throughout the school.
  6. Extracurricular Activities:

    • Organize and lead extracurricular ICT-related activities such as coding clubs, robotics, digital media projects, or school tech fairs.
    • Encourage students to participate in competitions, hackathons, or other events related to ICT.
  7. Online Safety and Ethics:

    • Promote awareness of digital citizenship and online safety, teaching students how to use technology responsibly.
    • Educate students about issues related to privacy, online behavior, and digital footprints.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or a related field.
    • Previous experience teaching ICT at the relevant school level (primary, middle, or high school).
    • IELTS 7.5
