Job Description

The English Teacher is responsible for teaching and facilitating English language and literature instruction to students. The teacher will foster a love of reading, writing, and critical thinking, while developing students' skills in reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and grammar.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development and Instruction:

    • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the school’s curriculum objectives for English language and literature.
    • Teach reading, writing, grammar, composition, and vocabulary to students across various grade levels.
    • Introduce students to a variety of literary genres, authors, and historical contexts, fostering an appreciation for literature.
  2. Student Engagement and Support:

    • Create an engaging and supportive classroom environment that encourages participation, creativity, and critical thinking.
    • Offer individualized support to students, helping them improve their writing and communication skills.
    • Foster an environment where students feel comfortable expressing their ideas and exploring different perspectives.
  3. Assessment and Evaluation:

    • Design and administer assignments, quizzes, and exams to assess student progress in reading, writing, and grammar.
    • Provide constructive feedback on written work, offering strategies for improvement.
    • Maintain accurate records of student performance, including grades, attendance, and participation.
  4. Classroom Management:

    • Manage student behavior in the classroom to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
    • Organize classroom materials, books, and resources, ensuring they are accessible and up to date.
    • Encourage active classroom participation through discussions, group work, and peer reviews.
  5. Extracurricular Activities:

    • Promote student participation in English-related extracurricular activities such as writing clubs, drama productions, or speech competitions.
    • Organize and participate in literary events, book fairs, or writing workshops.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate cross-curricular activities that support literacy development.
    • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues about student progress, challenges, and achievements.
    • Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and parent-teacher conferences as required.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
    • Prior experience teaching English at the appropriate grade level (middle or high school) is required.
    • IELTS 7.5
