Job Description

The Legal Advisor provides expert legal counsel and support to the organization, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, mitigating legal risks, and safeguarding the company’s interests. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, handling legal disputes, and offering strategic legal guidance to support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Legal Advice and Strategy:

    • Provide legal guidance to management and departments on a wide range of issues, including contracts, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance.
    • Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Keep the organization informed about legal developments and changes in regulations that may impact operations.
  2. Contract Management:

    • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure the company’s interests are protected.
    • Advise on contractual obligations, rights, and remedies.
    • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all legal agreements.
  3. Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:

    • Ensure the company complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Oversee the implementation of compliance programs and policies.
    • Liaise with regulatory bodies and represent the organization during inspections or audits.
  4. Dispute Resolution and Litigation:

    • Handle legal disputes, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
    • Represent the company in legal proceedings or coordinate with external counsel as needed.
    • Manage and resolve employee, vendor, and customer disputes in alignment with company policies.
  5. Policy Development:

    • Assist in drafting and updating company policies, ensuring they align with legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Provide training to employees on legal and compliance matters as required.
  6. Corporate Governance:

    • Advise on matters related to corporate structure, mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
    • Assist with company secretarial duties, including board meeting preparations and minute-taking.
  7. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of legal documentation, correspondence, and case files.
    • Prepare legal reports and summaries for management review.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB or equivalent) is mandatory; a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) is an advantage.
  • Professional certification or license to practice law (required).
  • Proven experience as a Legal Advisor, Legal Counsel, or similar role.
